Batts' performed a thorough chimney inspection and advised on what work to do to have a safe functioning fireplace. The chimney itself is 60+ years old. The service man told me what was necessary, what was suggested, and even how I could save money by doing a few of the things myself, including a list of what to buy at a home improvement store.
We were converting our fireplace from gas logs back to wood burning with a gas started. Considering the cost of natural gas in Alabama and the availability of firewood, we will be saving money after the second year.

The technician told me, "I would rather cost you less money and have you as a life-long customer then tell you the whole system needs redone and cost you thousands." I respect that, and they do have a life-long customer, now. The same is not true for the big business who first came to give me an estimate.
Checked furnace flue on roof and at furnace. Found a dead squirrel at the furnace end. It was removed and the furnace came on. They also checked the fireplace.
