Our History

Growing up with humble beginnings on the west end of Birmingham, Phillip Batts worked side jobs to put himself through college. He graduated from University of Alabama in 1973 with a B.A. in Sociology. His career in special education wasn’t meeting the needs of his young family and, seeing a growing need for a chimney sweep in the area, he stepped to the plate. Batts’ Chimney Services was incorporated in 1978 and has been staying ahead of the curve of chimney education ever since.

Phillip works hard to meet the needs of his family and his customers. His sons and daughter have all become integral parts of the company and, like their father, they are dedicated to doing the best work for the fairest price and always keeping our customers safe and happy.
